Raymond - Robert D. "Bob" Burleigh Sr., 82, died on Nov. 13, 2013, surrounded by his family at his home in Raymond, after a period of failing health.

He was born on March 14, 1931, in Fremont, son of the late Jesse and Mabel (Holmes) Burleigh.
Bob lived the majority of his life in Fremont. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, stationed in Germany. Bob was very proud of his military service.
He later married Joan Battis, and they were blessed to have six children. Bob worked at Spaulding and Frost in Fremont and later was employed at Agway in Manchester as a pellet mill operator.
Bob was the originator, singer and guitarist of The Country Roads Band; other hobbies included reading, studying encyclopedias and educating himself more, home movie-making, flying wireless control airplanes and gardening. He ran a tomato stand on Rt. 107 in Fremont years ago. Bob coached baseball teams and was active with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Burleigh was a member of the Fremont Historical Society.
He was predeceased by one daughter, Sherri Burleigh, and siblings Blanche, Shirley, William and Florence. He is survived by his daughter, Rhenda Burleigh of Epping; four sons, Robert Burleigh of Nottingham, Kenneth Burleigh of Kingston, Keith Burleigh of Fremont and Jamie Burleigh of Nottingham; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four sisters, Betty Bolduc of Fremont, Phyllis Bolduc of Raymond, Barbara Robinson of Fremont and Sally Richard of Raymond; one brother, Richard Burleigh of Brentwood; and many nieces and nephews.
services: Calling hours will be held Sunday, Nov. 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, 2 Epping St., Raymond. A funeral service will be held Monday, Nov. 18, at 11 a.m. at the People's United Methodist Church, Main Street, Fremont. Burial with military honors will follow in the Center Cemetery, Danville.
