Robert Constant Obituary

WARNER - Robert F. "Sparky" Constant, 63, of Warner passed away peacefully Monday evening, July 8, 2013. He was surrounded by his loving family.

Robert was born in Concord Sept. 30, 1949, the son of Frank and Mary (McCauley) Constant. He was raised in Concord and attended St. John's Elementary School and Bishop Brady High School. Upon graduation, Robert enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country as a damage control expert aboard the USS Wasp. Following honorable discharge from the military, Robert became a firefighter with the Concord Fire Department, a career which spanned 24 years. Once retired from the department he went back to college to pursue a paralegal degree and eventually settled in as a security officer at New England College in Henniker, where he established the "RA Fire Academy", teaching fire safety training to the college staff.

Described by his family as a loving husband, great dad and excellent grandfather, Robert was a caring and patient man who had a passion for cooking, enjoyed chess, classical music, classic rock, sports cars and good wine, and deeply loved the ocean.

Robert is survived by his wife of 39 years, Susan (Glance) Constant; son, Sean Constant and his wife Sandra (Baggett) of Warner, and their daughter Addyson; his mother, Mary Constant of Concord; his sister, Dorene Sicotte of West Swanzey; and a very close and caring cousin, Alexander "Skip" Constant of Concord. He was predeceased by his father, Frank, and his brother, John.
