MANCHESTER - Robert P. Des Roches of Manchester, Weare, and Bridgewater, died early in the morning of Jan. 14, 2014 at the Elliot Hospital of heart disease.

He was born on July 12, 1931 in Manchester, the son of Florence and Bernard Des Roches.
Robert attended Manchester High School Central where he was an exceptional football player and transferred to the New Hampton School where he continued his outstanding football career graduating with the class of 1950.
He was a disabled veteran of the U.S. Navy being medically discharged. He worked as a salesperson for Spice Islands. He was a retired employee of the US Postal Service beginning his service under Postmaster Brassard in Manchester, and served as a Post Office Window Clerk in Weare, before being transferred to the Nashua Post Office. He also worked at the Manchester Postal Center. He enjoyed the solitude and natural beauty of his property in Bridgewater with his beloved dog, Dewey.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Lt. Col. Bernard Hart Des Roches, U.S. Army, retired.
Other family members include aunts Mabel M. Hart and Bessie L. Hart, both deceased; his niece, Holly Hart Des Roches, deceased, her daughter, Jennifer Leihualani Koos of Honolulu, Hawaii; his nephew, Charles Wooster Des Roches of Salinas, California and son Ryan Armstrong Des Roches; his nephew, William Thorndike Des Roches of Salinas, California and son Aiden Jack Harris; his niece, Amy Armstrong Des Roches of Jackson, California and her sons Matthew Eberhart Des Roches and Kelsy Ryan Des Roches and her grandchild Jersey Des Roches.
There are no calling hours. A private graveside remembrance will be held during internment in the Des Roches family plot at Pine Grove Cemetery.
