RAYMOND - Romeo "Romie" E. Levesque Jr., 77, died Feb. 21, 2014, at his home in Raymond surrounded by his family after a long illness.He was born Jan. 24, 1937, in Exeter, son of the late Romeo E. Levesque Sr. and Bessie (McFarland) Levesque.Romie was a lifelong resident of Raymond and graduate of Raymond High School. He served four years in the U.S. Navy from 1955-1959. Romie was a longtime truck driver. He drove for Sprague Oil in Newington, Duracrete Block in Hooksett, and 27 years at St. Johnsbury Trucking in Manchester. In 1997, he retired from ABF Freight System in Londonderry after 30 years with Teamsters Local 633 Manchester. After retirement, Romie worked as a security guard at the Rockingham County Courthouse.In his younger years, Romie enjoyed playing sports at school and was inducted as a member of the RHS Athletic Hall of Fame. Romie was also active in various organizations including being a life member of the Military Order of Cooties Weekenders PT. 3 of Lancaster, life member of the John W. Weeks Veteran of Foreign Wars Post No. 3041 of Lancaster, member of the American Legion Post No. 17 of Groveton, member of the Tucker Masonic Lodge No. 99 of Raymond, member of the Scottish Rite 32nd Degree Valley of Portsmouth, Dover, and Nashua, life member of the East Side Club,member of the RHS Alumni Association, and a member of the Raymond United Methodist Church.Romie enjoyed marching in local parades, taking hunting trips with his Lancaster area crew, and watching sports, especially NFL and college football.He is survived by his loving wife, Norah (O'Connor) Levesque, a daughter, Dawn L. Levesque, a son, Michael R. Levesque Sr., two grandsons, Michael R. Levesque Jr. and Matthew Levesque, two great-granddaughters, Madilyn Levesque and Reese Levesque, a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald C. Levesque and wife Kathy, a sister and brother-in-law, Karen G. Bernier and husband Ernest, and several nieces and nephews.


services: Calling hours will be held on Monday, Feb. 24, 2014 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Brewitt Funeral Home, Raymond.The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 11 a.m. at the Raymond United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors will follow in the New Pine Grove Cemetery, Raymond.
