PEMBROKE - Stanley F. Grimes Sr., 86, of Buck Street, died Friday, Aug. 2, 2013, with his family by his side at CRVNA Hospice House.

Born on March 26, 1927, Stanley was the son of the late Freeman and Pearle (Sargent) Grimes. He was a lifelong Pembroke resident and a 1945 graduate of Pembroke Academy. At the age of 19 he joined the Army Air Corps and served during World War II in Europe.
Mr. Grimes spent many hard-working years on his Buck Street farm. He was a member of many farm organizations and also served 18 years on the Pembroke School Board. In his spare time, Stanley enjoyed playing cards, especially with his in-laws, Bill and Esther Murray.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Murray) Grimes of Pembroke, whom he married 60 years ago on April 25, 1953. He also leaves two children, Lois Croteau of Marlborough and Stanley "Lee" Grimes Jr. and his wife Ann of Pembroke; three grandchildren, Heather and Ariel Despres and Mary Bechard; brother-in-law John Lyford; niece Debbie Dean; nephews, Mark, Jon, and Dan Lyford; and a longtime friend, Norma (Chase) Neary. He was predeceased by his sister, Joan Lyford, and a son-in-law, L. Clevis Croteau.
