William D. Auger

MANCHESTER - William D. Auger died peacefully June 6, 2015, at the age of 90. He was the beloved husband of Doris Carrier of Manchester. William was born March 5, 1925, in Manchester, the youngest of four children to Alice and Neree Auger.

Upon graduating from West High School in 1942, he promptly enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and proudly served for four years during World War II. After his honorable discharge, he married his wife of 69 years. William worked as a skilled draftsman at Lyons Iron Works in Manchester for many years prior to founding Stitching Corp. in the Jefferson Mill. The business was later purchased by Wolverine Worldwide and relocated to Malone, N.Y., where he worked for Tru-Stitch Footwear until his retirement in 1991.

During his retirement, William continued his love of skiing, took up the game of golf, and enjoyed the Florida sunshine until returning to New Hampshire in 2006. He spent his later years enjoying family gatherings, caring for his great-grandchildren, and attending their various school and athletic events.

William is predeceased by his parents Alice and Neree, his brother Maurice "Jack," and two sisters, Cecile and Laurette. He is survived by his wife Doris and his son Billy, both of Manchester, his grandson Todd Auger and wife Christine and their two children, Ian and Alexandria of Hooksett, his granddaughter Stefani Hirsch and husband Ethan of Portland, Maine, his granddaughter Natalie Mars and husband, Jean-Philippe, and their two children, Najean and Kalippe of Manchester. He spent much of his time receiving smiles and hugs from his four great-grandchildren, and will be there in spirit as his fifth is born in December.

services: A Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, June 11 at 10 a.m. in Parish of the Transfiguration in Manchester. Following Mass there will be a committal service at Mount Calvary Mausoleum.
