Thomas Lind Easton Obituary
WILLIAMSBURG - Thomas Lind Easton of Williamsburg, VA died March 1, 2014, after a brief illness. Tom was born in Detroit on March 31, 1927. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Judith Ann Isenberg Easton; their son James Lind Easton and daughter-in-law Martha Pollard Easton, also of Williamsburg; grandchildren William Bernard Easton of New York, Susan Lind Easton and Mary Pollard Easton; and nephew Jeffrey Lind Easton and wife Pegah and daughter August of New York. He was predeceased by his brother Lynn Edward Easton. After graduating from The Hotchkiss School, Tom attended University of Michigan, as did Judy; they were introduced by mutual friends at home and were wed on June 28, 1953. They began married life in Roselle, NJ before moving to West Newton, MA where they lived for 33 years. Tom's professional life included work for Foster Grant and Trina, Inc., of Fall River, MA and New York, from which he retired as chairman and chief executive officer in 1991. Tom loved each his three places of retirement: Lenox, MA, La Jolla, CA and Williamsburg, where he pursued his interests of music, golf and bridge, and read avidly. He was proudest of co-founding with Judy in 1994 The Berkshire Institute for Lifetime Learning, now Osher Lifelong Learning Institute, offering varied opportunities for adult learning. In recent years he delighted in his grandchildren and life at WindsorMeade, and will be remembered for his humor and thoughtful approach to the ups and downs of life. The family wishes to thank Pranav Parikh, MD, many wonderful caregivers, and staff and friends at WindsorMeade for their concern and assistance. A service will be held at WindsorMeade, 3900 Windsor Hall Drive, Williamsburg on Wednesday, March 5th at 2:00 p.m. followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom's memory to Hospice House and Support Care of Williamsburg, 4445 Powhatan Parkway, Williamsburg, VA, 23188.
