ARLENE RUUD 8/1919 - 10/08/2013 Tuesday, October 8, 2013 in Apple Valley, Ca.-Mrs. Arlene Ruud went to join Jesus at the age of 94. Mrs. Ruud was the beloved wife of the late M. John Ruud and was very much loved by her family, she will be dearly missed. She was the daughter of the late Carrie and Simon Schmidt of Battle Creek, Iowa. Arlene Ruud is survived by children and stepchildren-daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca & Arthur Bolding; Son and daughter-in-law John & Carol Ruud; Son and daughter-in-law, Casey and Laura Ruud, one sister, Esther Smith 96, twelve grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Mrs. Ruud graduated from the University of Iowa with a degree in speech therapy. She taught third and fourth grade children 1956 to 1970 when she retired to enjoy traveling and china painting. She was a member of the American Association of University Women, the Republican party, and P.E.O. In her retirement years she volunteered at the Church of The Valley food bank and taught Laubach (Teaching English to non-speaking citizens). She loved her Friday Lunch Bunch and the daily crossword puzzle. She also enjoyed playing Bridge, Bingo and always looked forward to her weekly Bunko game. Her travels included most of the U.S.A., including Hawaii and Alaska, Japan, Canada, England, Ireland, Greece and the Panama canal. She lived in La Paz, Mexico a number of years. She had a full life and she is resting with the Lord now. God bless her.
