CHARLES R. CRAIG 1/6/1933 - 8/26/2013 Charles R. Craig, of Yermo California, passed away on August 26, 2013, after living for a year with lung cancer. He was 80 years old. Charles (known to family as "Sonny", and to friends as "Chuck" or "Charlie"), was born on January 6, 1933 at home in Mentone, California. He served in the Army as a young man during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he met and married Flora May Craig, and they shared a good life for 52 years. Charles and Flora raised two daughters, Cheryl and Denise. Charles was a master auto and heavy equipment mechanic who could diagnose and fix any vehicle. He worked for the Brookside Dairy as a young married man, and later at the Nebo Marine Base in Barstow. He was also a creative and expert welder. Charles could always be found in his shop, working on his latest project or truck. Charles and Flora enjoyed a second home in Bahia Kino, Mexico for many years before Flora passed away in 2005. Charles is also remembered for his practical jokes and always enjoyed a game of poker or hearts. Charles is survived by his siblings Glenny Gerhard of Hemet, Kathleen Edmundson of Banning, Jimmy Craig of Las Vegas, his daughter Denise Craig Combs of Vallecito, and his dog Scruffy. Charles has four grand-children and three great- grandchildren to date. A small private gathering will be held in Charles' honor on Saturday, September 28 at his grave site.
