GARY LEE "PIERRE" DOTTER 2/24/1940 - 2/18/2014 Our beloved American Indian warrior Gary Lee "Pierre" Dotter went home to the Happy Hunting Grounds on February 18, 2014 after battling stomach cancer. Pierre, as known to friends, was born on February 24, 1940 in Yankton, SD, the 5th of 6 children to Eldon and Mercedes Dotter. His mother being predominantly Sioux, he attended school on a reservation and worked on his family's farm. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps at age 17 and served his country valiantly in the Vietnam War, honorably discharged as a First Lieutenant in 1966. Pierre then served in law enforcement for a brief period before moving into auto sales, successfully managing dealerships for the next 40 years. Pierre is survived by his children Gunndarr and Kyra, three grandchildren, sister Charlotte Janovec and his brother Douglas. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Larry, James and Ralph.
