Melvin grew up in Washington State; served in the Navy from 1952-1956 during the Korean War and ended up serving as a sharp-shooter during the war because of the great hunting skills he developed as a young man. He volunteered in many organizations, the Boy Scouts, the community paramedics and military. He was also a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and volunteered in many capacities. He always had a smile on his face and had a big heart for children and animals. He was greatly loved and will greatly be missed. He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 54 years, Belva; his parents, Gary & Irene and a brother, Gordon. He is survived by his children, Danny (Lynda), Melinda (Dan), Glenndel, Timothy (Holly), a brother, Elden (Judy), his sister Donna Thomas and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
