ROBERT HAYES ALEXANDER 8/15/1923 - 11/29/2013 Robert Hayes Alexander, age 90, of Oak Hills, California, passed away of respiratory failure at 5:15 a.m. Friday November 29, 2013, at Desert Valley Hospital, Victorville. He was retired after 60 years as an Operating Engineer with IUOE Local 12 of Southern California. He was born on August 15, 1923, in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of the late James B. and Emma M. (Hayes) Alexander. Robert was predeceased by his first wife Maxine Edna (Ramies) Alexander in 1983 and his second wife Nellie Margaret (Blackburn) Alexander in 2007. He is survived by his daughter Roxann Maxine (Alexander) Fenn and his two sons Robert Clifford Alexander and Rod Grant Alexander. Other survivors include five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Robert served in World War II as a Corporal for the U.S. Army. He was proud to have served his country. He was a patriot and enjoyed hearing stories of others who have served. His hobbies included watching Westerns, football and boxing. He loved a good conversation and enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with family and friends. From a young age, Robert had the determination to succeed at this craft as an Operating Engineer and business owner. He took great pride in his achievements. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
