RODNEY B. MCKEAN 6/23/1949 - 1/22/2014 Rodney B. McKean of Hesperia, CA, passed away on January 22, 2014 due to complications with cancer. He was born in Roseburg, OR on June 23, 1949. He received his bachelor's degree from Simpson Bible College, a Master's degree from Asbury Theological Seminary, and a Masters and Doctorate from Michigan State University. He lived in Hesperia for the last 24 years and was a teacher at Hesperia High School for 22 of those years. He taught World History and European History, coached sports, lead and supported various clubs across campus, and brought the AVID program into the school to help students get into college. In all that he did, he integrated his love for teaching young minds and hearts with his love for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He pastored churches, taught in schools and universities, and travelled the world, all in an effort to teach and show God's love through his own words, actions, and deeds. Rod is survived by his wife of nearly 45 years Carolyn McKean, his children Timothy, Michael, and Holly, and his six grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in his honor at 2:00pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Church of the Valley in Apple Valley, CA. In lieu of flowers you may donate to the Rod McKean Memorial Scholarship. Please contact Hesperia High School for more details.
