THURMAN FRANKLIN BROWN Thurman Franklin Brown passed away in his home on January 4, 2013 at the age of 78. A native of Pine Mountain, Alabama; Thurman joined the Air Force in 1955 and became a resident of Apple Valley after being discharged in 1959. Thurman started work at Riverside Cement in 1959 at the age of 25. During his 40 years of service at Riverside Cement, Thurman worked up from a Laborer, to Killburner, to Supervisor then he was a Superintendent. He ultimately retired as the Plant Manager of Riverside Cement. Thurman was well respected by all he came in contact with. He is survived by his wife Nancy, stepson Rickie and his wife Donna, son Allen and his wife Debbie, and Sheila Casteel, daughter-in-law, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. His family back home in Alabama including his brother Lathan, sisters Linda and Lynette and his dear sister in law Ruth, niece Vanessa and many more nieces and nephews. Thurman was a beloved husband, grandfather and friend and will be missed by all that knew him. Services will be held at Sunset Hills Mortuary, 24000 Waalew Road, Apple Valley, CA., Wednesday Jan. 9, 2012. A viewing will begin at 2:30 PM with services to follow at 3:00 P.M. A reception will follow the services at Sunset Hills. Interment will be in Alabama.
