SAN ANTONIO, TX.-Andres Escamilla, 83, Fighting Texas Aggie Class of 1961, passed away on December 15, 2012. Andres was born in Bishop, Texas on February 4, 1929.
Following his graduation from Rio Hondo High School, Andres enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving 3 years at his station in Alaska, Andres came back home and enrolled at Texas A&M University in College Station. He graduated from Texas A&M with a degree in Civil Engineering in 1961 and married Elma Rodriguez of Harlingen on November 11, 1961.
His first job after graduation was with the Fort Worth District Corps of Engineers where he was assigned to work at NASA. He then transferred to San Antonio, Texas to work at Kelly Air Force Base. Andres continued his work at Kelly AFB as a Professional Engineer for over 23 years until he retired in 1991.
After his retirement, Andres fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own construction company, AE Construction, Inc. He retired from his business in 2003. Andres was also an avid hunter, rancher and Santa Gertrudis cattle breeder, where he tended his cattle at his ranches in Elmendorf and Gonzales for over 40 years.
He loved the outdoors and always took time to take his family on camping trips to Garner State Park and drives through the Texas Hill Country and the Rio Grande Valley. He shared his love for Texas A&M with his family and was so proud that both his daughters graduated from Texas A&M.
Andres was a member of the San Antonio A&M Club, The Alhambras, and was a 4th Ddegree Knight with the Blessed Sacrament Knights of Columbus Council # 7016. His family was proud of his many achievements and merits as a professional engineer.
He was preceded in death by his parents Domingo and Andrea Escamilla, his sisters Camila and Trinidad and his brothers Eusebio, with whom he will be joyfully reunited.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Elma Rodriguez, daughters, Deanna Castilla (Michael), Deyanira Delgado (Matthew) and his pride and joy, grandson, Noah Andres Delgado.
