SAN ANTONIO, TX.-
Bays Ragland Bryant passed away peacefully on February 1, 2013 in San Antonio, Texas. He was born January 27, 1932 in Lubbock, Texas to Bays R. Bryant Sr., and Velma Marr Bryant.
He attended Thomas Jefferson High School in San Antonio and graduated from Schreiner Institute in Kerrville. After high school, Bays attended Schreiner Junior College and Trinity University in San Antonio where he played basketball. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1953 and served in Okinawa for two years following the Korean War.
After military service, he attended The University of Texas at Austin in 1955 and 1956. Bays worked in the highway construction industry for the majority of his career, which led him to start his own construction company. He later sold the company and started a small consulting business, which he worked at until retirement. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandkids
Bays was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Waldron, whom he married in 1956; brother William K. Bryant and wife Margo of Dallas; son Brett R. Bryant and wife Cindy; son Tyler K. Bryant and wife Ellen; granddaughters, Sarah K. Bryant, Lauren A. Bryant, Erin N. Bryant, and Taylor A. Bryant.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, February 8, 2013 at University United Methodist Church, 5084 DeZavala Rd., San Antonio
Private burial services to be held at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the name of Bays R. Bryant to Blueprint Ministries P.O. Box 782128, San Antonio, TX 78278.
