Bob J. Pierce, born December 4, 1937, died unexpectedly on October 21, 2013.
He was a graduate of Mount Pleasant High School, and earned both a bachelor's and master's degree from Stephen F. Austin University. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, and was honorably discharged in 1962. After a successful career as a businessman, he became a teacher with the San Benito Independent School District, teaching at Miller Jordan and Riverside Middle Schools. He retired after fourteen years with SBISD.
Mr. Pierce was preceded in death by his parents, Tommie and Thelma Pierce, his brother Tommie Jack, and by his infant daughters, Pamela and Paula. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn Anne, his son Jeffrey of Edinburg, Texas, and his son and daughter Brian and Julie of Ennis, Texas, and also his grandchildren Austin, Alex, and Avery.
He was an active member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Harlingen, Texas, serving as a lector and Eucharistic minister for many years.
A memorial service will be held at Queen of Peace Church on Thursday, October 24, 2013, at 4:00 PM.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mr. Pierce's memory to the Rio Grande Valley Historical Museum, or to Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
