HARLINGEN, TX. --
Joel Villarreal 43, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior at Valley Baptist Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia that began December 25, 2005 until his last breath on April 25, 2014.
Joel loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed Nascar and was a bigtime Dallas Cowboy fan. He served the upper valley as an Emergency Medical Technician in his professional career. He was also a volunteer firefighter with the La Feria Fire Dept. In his spare time he loved being with his family, barbequing, fishing and bowling. He had a passion for golfing. Joel was a great son, husband, father and brother.
Preceded in death by his father Rev. Arturo Villarreal Sr., his paternal grandfather, Samuel Villarreal and maternal grandparents, Roberto and Estefana Gonzalez.
He leaves behind to cherish his wonderful memory his wife, Carol G. Villarreal, his children, Joel Estefan Villarreal, Cordero Daniel Villarreal, Sophia Lorena Villarreal, Johnny Villarreal, Allison Gonzalez, his parents the late Rev. Arturo Villarreal and Sylvia Villarreal, brothers, Arturo Villarreal Jr., Jacob Villarreal, sister, Cecilia Donez, nephews and nieces, Arturo Villarreal III, Samuel Pedro Villarreal, Kyla Faith Donez, Maia Hope Donez, Erica Marie Garcia and Robert Garcia.
Viewing will be held today beginning at 1:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Monday April 28, 2014 from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM with prayer service at 7:00 PM Monday evening.
Chapel Service will be held Tuesday April 29, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Trinity at Harrison Funeral Home with Pastor Jorge Zapata officiating.
Interment will follow to Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with firefighter honors.
Honored to be his pallbearers are Robert Donez, Billy Lozano, Blake Brooks, Gil Alcala and Israel Flores.
Honorary pallbearer will be Rick Garcia.
