John (Jack) Melson Little III passed away Monday February 3, 2014 in Harlingen, Texas.
Jack was born August 1, 1937 in Corpus Christi, Texas to John (Jack) Melson Little Jr. and Frances Tucker Little. He attended Corpus Christi Ray High School where he lettered in Golf all four years. He accepted a Golf scholarship at Rice University for one year then transferred to Southern Methodist University for the remaining three years on Golf scholarship. He graduated from SMU with a BA in Banking and Finance.
After graduation he enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserve then went on to work for A.G Edwards in Phoenix, Arizona. It was there he met and married Susan Marie Meerdink in 1962. Two years later they moved to Dallas, Texas to continue his career with A. G. Edwards. In 1968 they moved to Houston, Texas where he accepted a position with First City National Bank. Later they moved to Conroe, Texas in 1976 while still working for First City. He retired in 1981 has Vice President of the Corporate Trust/ Stock Transfer department for First City and then moved to Palm Valley, Texas.
In the Valley he started and owned Fairway Buggies, Inc. until 1986 at which time he went back into Financial Services has an Independent Annuity and Life Insurance agent. He and his son worked together at JML Financial in Harlingen , Texas from 2000- 2008.
Jack was an accomplished amateur golfer, longtime member of Harlingen Country Club where he served on the Board of Directors and was club champion there six times. He was also a member of the Prestigious Life Begins at 40 with three Championships.
Mr. Little was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Charles (Chuck). He is survived by his wife Sue of fifty one years, his son John IV, daughter- in- law Valerie, two Grandsons, John V and Ryan, and Granddaughter Allyson.
Memorial Service for family and friends will be at the First Baptist Church Chapel on 2:00pm Friday, February 7th.

The family is deeply grateful to Dr. John Ferris and staff for their care for many years. Likewise, we sincerely thank Rosa, Dahlia, Anieda and the entire staff at Greater Valley Hospice who provided exceptional services and support. In addition we want to thank The Atrium nurses, aides and staff for their loving care and beautiful facility.
