Oran Columbus Knox, 92, of Raymondville, Texas passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on February 28, 2013.
Oran is survived by his wife Louise (Mama Knox) of 73 years, daughter Jean (Merle) Woods of Corvallis, Oregon, son Virgil (Beverly) Knox of Spring, Texas, son Wayne (Lois) Knox of Belton, Texas, and nephew Howard Knox of Austin, Texas.
Oran served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war he delivered milk for Magic Valley Creamery, managed the local Temple Lumber Company for many years, and retired as manager of W.C. Grain, Inc. after many years of service.
He also served as an Elder in the Raymondville Church of Christ. He devoted 32 years of service as a volunteer in the Raymondville Volunteer Fire Department, including six years as fire marshal and twenty years as fire chief. He also served as President of the Emergency Ambulance Service.
Funeral services will be at 3:00 PM Saturday at the Good Shepherd Funeral Home, 1157 West Hidalgo, Raymondville, TX 78580, (956) 689-0600.
A military graveside service will be conducted by the American Legion Post #390 and the Veterans of Foreign War Post #6719.
