RAYMONDVILLE,TX.-Robert Louis Hommel, 76 of Raymondville, TX, entered into eternal life on Monday, May 20, 2013 in Valley Baptist Medical Center.
He was born on August 25, 1936 in McAllen, TX son of Merle Dale and Veronica (Wagner) Hommel.
Robert was the owner of Robert Hommel Construction, Inc. He was in partnership with Sub-Drainage Engineering and also Oilfield Treating Chemicals.He served as a past board member of Willacy County Little League, as past president of Catholic Men's Fraternal Insurance and a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church. Robert was honorably discharged from the United States Navy as a Seaman and continued his service as a proud Seabee with the Naval Reserves for several years.
Other than visiting with friends and family, a handful of his favorite things were a good meal, Dobermans, horses, Indian motorcycles, shooting guns and a friendly dice game.
Robert is survived by his wife, Rosie Lee Hommel; sons, Steve Hommel, Greg (Judy) Hommel, Kenneth Hommel, Jeff Hommel and daughter Debbie (Dennis) Malm; grandchildren Brian, Justin and Allison Hommel and Delaney and Dylan Malm.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Duddlesten Funeral Home, 604 W. Hidalgo Ave., Raymondville, TX.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, 464 S. 1st., Raymondville, TX with military honors presented by the American Legion Post # 390 and V.F.W. Post # 6719.
