HARLINGEN, TX.-
"Dub' affectionately known by family & friends, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus on Feb. 24, 2013. Born Oct. 22, 1923 to Arthur Luke and Luella Towery Curry in Grand Prairie TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beellie and Geellie Curry, Eva, Ora and Kizzie Gray, brothers Odie, M.B., Henry & Joe Bill Curry, and daughter Jackie York.
Survivors include his sister Maudie Mitchell, wife of 65yrs Fay, son William Curry and daughter Charlene Sanchez, (Grandchildren) Wilson Curry, Wanda Tello, Seth and Seleise Sanchez, (Great Grandchildren) Casey Wood, John Tello, Tanner and Taylor Curry, Lyah Sanchez, (Great Great Grandchild) Aliyha Tello.
In Dub's early beginnings he was a farmer and later became an expert cabinet maker to which he dedicated most of his life." If there was something that could be built with wood Dub Curry could build it and build it to the best of his ability!"
Dub was of humble character yet strong, honest and hard working and loved his family to no end. He was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved and respected nature, these interests/loves he shared with family and friends.
Dub was also survivor of World War II where he served in the United States Army as a tank mechanic and earned 3 Bronze Stars. During his service he fought in the famous battle known as ``The Battle of the Bulge' and also participated in "Operation Plunder" the crossing of the Rhine River. He served his country and family with great honor, and words cannot begin to describe a man like Dub; he will forever be loved, remembered and respected by many.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 10:00 am in Heavenly Grace Chapel.
Special thanks go out to Greater Valley Hospice and Becky Rains who gave whole heartily and unconditionally in his time of need.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Heavenly Grace Funeral Home and Crematory.
