DIENO, Arthur Jacob
Died peacefully on February 9, 2014 in Abbotsford, BC at the age of 94. Born in Young, Saskatchewan, Art obtained a Bachelor's degree from UBC and a Master's degree in Geography from the University of Washington. After teaching in Trail, Port Alberni, and North Vancouver, he worked as a school system administrator in Surrey. He enjoyed being an educator and was very popular with his students. During his summers off, Art built and sold several houses. His two favourite places were White Rock, where he lived for the past 20 years, and Mayne Island. After building the Mayne cabin in 1964, Art spent many happy summers there with his family; he particularly enjoyed fishing, beachcombing, and visiting with the neighbours. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Edith Margaret, in 2001. Art is mourned by his children Dianne, Cindy, and David; grandchildren Sean, Ryan, and Gillian; and siblings Harold, Edna, Audrey, and Donald. The family would like to thank his physician Dr. Bryan Prentice. No service by request.
