Frederick William Burr (December 4, 1913 - February 25, 2014)
The Guest Book is expired.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father in White Rock BC. Fred is survived by his three children Joanne, Alison (Robert), Gary (Debbie), his three grand children Jennifer (Dylan), Andrew (Megan), and Quincy (Heather) and three great grand children, Taylor, Brennen and Callie, sisters Norma Higgs, Madiline Gunderson, sister and brother in laws and many nieces and nephews. Fred is predeceased by his loving wife Doris of 67 years (2009), Brother Harold (Flight Lieutenant) Father Fred and Mother Violet and sister Doreen. Fred attended school in Vancouver, Kamloops and Kelowna where he excelled at sports. At 19 years of age, Fred won the men's high diving competition in Kelowna. During the Second World War, Fred took army training in Vernon BC and later became a RCAF Flight Sergeant and Pilot Instructor Officer stationed across Canada. Fred followed in his father's footsteps and became a professional baker before and after WW2, working at the Bon Ton and retiring as Bakery Manager of Woodward's Port Alberni after 25 years. Fred and Doris spent many happy years raising their three children in Port Alberni and enjoyed their retirement years at Qualicum Beach. Dad enjoyed fishing at Qualicum and Banfield and sharing his fresh baked breads and buns with friends and family. We would like to thank the staff of Al Hogg (2nd Floor, White Rock BC), for their wonderful care of Dad, Dr David Anderson, Dr V . Huckell, Dr Richard Leggett of St. Faiths Anglican Church (Vancouver, BC), the White Rock Hospice Volunteers for their exceptional care and compassion during Dad's last days, and Veteran Affairs. Last but not least we would like to give a special thanks to our father's caregiver Grace who showed love, kindness and compassion to our darling father right to the end. A private family gathering will be held at a later date.
