TERFRY, Maureen Jean
July 18, 1940 - March 1, 2014
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Maureen Terfry. Maureen was born in Vancouver and was predeceased by her father Arthur (Art) in 1970 and her mother Ethel (Bunny) in 2004. She is survived by many cousins and good friends. In her student days, Maureen was one of very few Down's syndrome students attending public school. She completed a Modified School Programme at Killarney Secondary. Following her schooling, she spent most of her life enjoying her participation in the various activities offered by the Developmental Disabilities Association, took part in Special Olympics, and was an avid bowler. To those many caring people who were so supportive of Maureen, we thank you. We also extend appreciation to the staff at Arbutus Care Centre where Maureen spent the last four years of her life. A private memorial for Maureen will be held in the spring on Gambier Island. As expressions of sympathy, a donation in Maureen's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
