HENDERSON, Major Norman
(January 8, 1928 to May 8, 2014)
Passed peacefully while surrounded by his family and his loving wife Kathleen, including the timely arrival of his cousin Iris from Ireland. Dad will be sorely missed as a kind, fair always giving man who cared deeply for his family and friends alike. His time was a gift to many, especially as a dedicated role model to his surviving four sons Stephen, Lorne, Craig and Scott; his grandchildren David, Curt, Cassandra, Mike, Brendan, Kerri, Gracie and Brian. Dad at heart was a military man of service to his country in the Royal Canadian Engineers, as a Commanding Officer in the Royal Canadian Airborne, with the first ever peacekeeping force in Egypt and as Senior Highway Supt. for the Alaskan Highway. He attended Vancouver Tech., UBC Applied Science Civil Engineering & earned a MBA at SFU. Following his service, he became Executive Director of the Western Canada Summer Games. Later as a Civil Engineer with BC Gas until his retirement in 1988. His giving continued as President of the Professional Engineers Association of BC and for the Canadian Korean War Veterans. Dad will be laid to rest in the company of the boys' mother Betty-Jane at the West Vancouver Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. Memorial services will be held at St. Christopher's, 1068 Inglewood Ave., W. Vancouver at 3 p.m. Thursday, May 15; refreshments to follow. God Bless, Safe Home. Slan Agat.
