Loving wife and mother and devoted grandmother, Mary died Monday, February 24, 2014 at the age of 87.
Mary was born in 1926 in St. Paul, Minnesota to William Manion of River Falls, Wisconsin and Marie Flynn of St. Paul, Minnesota. A graduate of St. Cloud State University Minnesota, Mary was an elementary school teacher for 6 years. In 1955 she married R. Clark Hunter and they lived in Japan, San Jose, Santa Maria, Newbury Park, and Camarillo. Mary volunteered for many years with the Southern California Head Injury Foundation and was an assistant at voting polls for several years. Mary was proud of her Irish Heritage, Minnesota roots and loved family gatherings. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and reading. She also loved to attend her grandchildren's activities such as sporting events and music concerts.
Mary was preceded in death by her son Robert, her brother Bill and her sister Rosemary. In addition to her husband, she is survived by 5 daughters, Colleen Hancock(Mark), Maureen Rouimi (Claude), Teresa Flagg (Tim), Elizabeth Hunter and Virginia Baca (Mike). Mary was blessed to have 5 grandchildren, Forrest Hancock, Joshua and Noah Rouimi, and Krista and Cayla Flagg. T
here will be a visitation from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. on Thursday, February 27th at Griffin Family Funeral Chapels. Funeral mass will be held at St. Paschal Baylon Catholic Church in Thousand Oaks on Friday, February 28th at 10:30 a.m. followed by burial at Pierce Brothers Valley Oaks Memorial Park in Westlake Village.
