William Louis Ueable passed away on February 9, 2014. He was born November 11, 1923 in Girard, IL and was a resident of Oxnard for over 65 years. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Bill piloted various planes in preparation for battle in World War II. It was on a weekend leave from his unit in Bakersfield in 1944 that he met Virginia MacFarland at the Hollywood USO. Bill was transferred to Pecos, TX but he was not about to forget that girl at the USO and the feeling was mutual. Virginia was soon on a train to Texas and five months and three dates after they met, the two were married in Pecos on the same day that he received his pilot wings.
They settled into Oxnard in 1948 and lived in the same home until his death. He enjoyed a satisfying 40-year career with Southern California Edison specializing in range repair. In 2009, he was preceded in death by Virginia, his bride of 64 years and, in 2005, by his brother, Weltmer Ueable of Girard, IL.
Bill is survived by his daughter Susan (Bill) McCampbell of Bend, OR; son Rick Ueable of Scottsdale, AZ and daughter Julie (John) Laubacher of Camarillo. He is also survived by sister-in-law Jean Bischoff of Camarillo, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Memorial service will be held at Camarillo Community Church, 1322 Las Posas Road, Camarillo on Saturday, Feb 15th at 11 a.m. with a light lunch served immediately after.
Funeral arrangements are being made through Griffin Family Funeral chapels in Camarillo.
