Dr. A. J. Rice Dr. Rice passed peacefully in his home in Three Rivers surrounded by family & friends. He dedicated his life work to the people of Three Rivers and the surrounding areas. He will long be remembered for his caring of his patients, his humor, and his love of Three Rivers. A.J. was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1943. He was the son of the late Frank and Marlene Rice. Raised in Pittsburgh, he graduated from the University Of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School. He received his M.D. and PhD in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Iowa. He did his medical internship and residency at Stanford University. In 1973 he settled in Three Rivers to set up his practice that he continued for 39 years. He implemented a combined family practice with holistic medicine. Dr. A.J. Rice was a pioneer of holistic medicine throughout the United States. The community of Three Rivers will be long remember his passion for homeopathic health and his dedication to his patients. He was pre deceased by his wife Karen Rice and is survived by his daughter Leigh Rice, son Shay Rice as well as A.J. Rice's brother Marc Rice M.D. of Pittsburgh. A celebration of life will be held at the Lion's roping arena on June 3, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers contributions in his name can be made to American Institute of Homeopathy Foundation, % Sandra Chase, 10418 Whitehead Street, Fairfax, VA 22030.
