Allen Hildeman Allen Ray "Al" Hildeman passed away on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in Visalia, California at the age of 91. He was born in Waupaca, Wisconsin on February 8, 1922 to Lester and Gladys Hildeman. Al proudly served in the U. S. Navy aboard the USS Maryland in the South Pacific during World War II and was an active member of the VFW. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1945, he made his home in Washington State. Al later moved to Alaska in 1945 and remained there until 1976. While in Alaska, Al owned and operated a commercial nursery near Talketna, Alaska. Al was also a member of the Iron Workers Union #751 in Anchorage, Alaska. In addition to being a loving husband and companion, Al enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an avid rockhound and loved gardening and working in his woodshop. He is survived by his wife Rosalee, daughters Ann Souza and Cathy West, son Allen Jr., sisters Carol Berens and Norma Drake, brother David Hildeman, his step-children Jini Stewart and Steve Sullivan and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. A viewing will be held between 12 noon and 8 pm Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel, Tulare, California. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm Monday, March 4, 2013 at Exeter District Cemetery, 719 Avenue 288, Exeter, California. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the .
