Barbara Swaggerty Barbara Swaggerty, 76, of Visalia passed away November 20, 2012 in Visalia, California. Barbara was born in Evanston, Illinois to Ned and Lucille Bush on December 30, 1935. She attended high school at Wiley High School and graduated in 1954. She went on to work as an IBM key punch operator for Purdue University to help put her husband Robert through college at Purdue. As a homemaker she raised her two children Lynda and Paul and later as a grandmother when she cared daily for her grandchildren. Barb served as a deaconess and worked faithfully for over 25 years on bereavement and hospitality committees at her church. She was well known for her work on the Kaweah Delta Cancer Support Group, and many other cancer related causes for the last 10 years as a breast cancer survivor. Her love for children was evident throughout her life, serving in the K-6 Sunday School programs for 25 years and as a leader in the "Camp Read Literacy Program for Children". Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Ned and Lucille; two brothers Ned, Donald; and her two sisters Hildreth and Fran. Barbara is survived by her husband Robert Swaggerty; daughter Lynda Schrumpf; son Paul Swaggerty; four grandchildren Erin Schrumpf, Leah Schrumpf, Colton Swaggerty and Jordan Swaggerty. Visitation will be held at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel in Visalia on November 23, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Prosperity Avenue Baptist Church, 1781 East Prosperity Avenue, Tulare on November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Anyone wanting to make a remembrance is encouraged to donate to the "Camp Read Literacy Program for Children" at Prosperity Avenue Baptist Church.
