Donald E. Welch Don was born on December 30, 1931 in Claremont, Oklahoma to Howard and Myrtle Welch and was the first born of their 12 children. He passed away on December 19, 2013 in Visalia, California at the age of 81. After high school Don enlisted in the Army and worked as a military police officer. After being honorably discharged from the Army he went to work as a truck driver until he retired in 1997. Well known for his highly experienced driving skills as a product and milk transporter, Don received numerous safety driving awards. He enjoyed going to work because he loved joking and telling stories (true and fictitious) with his coworkers. They were always trying to get one up on him but were never able to do so. One of the things Don especially enjoyed doing was deep sea fishing and cooking up his catch for family and friends. Don was preceded in death his parents and a sister Shirley Beavers. His survivors include his lifelong sweetheart and wife Ramona; his son Donnie and wife Raylene, grandsons Dustin and Dexter Welch, great grandchildren Tyler and Chyanne Welch; his daughter Patti and husband Vince Hernandez, grandsons Bryn and Bret Minyard; four brothers Jack, Bob, Dennis and Ronald; six sisters Ernestine, Barbara, Rita, Janice, Anita and Evelyn. A memorial will be held at 11 am, Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Wayside Church of the Nazarene, 1929 E. Bardsley in Tulare. Immediately following the memorial, a celebration of Don's life will be held at the Agri-Center also in Tulare. Arrangements are by Peers Lorentzen Funeral Service.
