Donald William Craig Sr. Donald W. Craig Sr. passed away on May 13, 2014 while his loving wife Arlene held his hand. Daughters Dawn and Kathy were nearby as well. Our Heavenly Father blessed Arlene with the privilege of hearing Donald's spirit leave his body, when our Father called Donald home. That was a precious moment I will treasure forever. Thank you Father for that special blessing. Donald W. Craig was born March 29, 1932 to parents William and Claudine Craig in San Francisco, CA. He was proud to have been born in such a famous city as San Francisco. Don's favorite song was "I Left My Heart in San Francisco" by Tony Bennett. Donald was married to his first wife Bonnie Coulter on October 9, 1954. They had 2 children, a daughter Dawn and a son Larry. Bonnie became ill with Lupus and passed away on December 1, 1961 from kidney failure due to the Lupus. After Bonnie's passing Donald married her cousin Arlene Baker. Donald and Arlene were married on August 11, 1963 and had 5 children - 3 sons Michael, Donald Jr., and Daniel, and 2 daughters Kathy and Rhonda. Donald and Arlene were blessed with 50 years, 9 months and 2 days together. Donald worked for the So. Calif. Edison Company for 38 years and held many positions while there. He retired as a Heavy Equipment Operator on April 1, 1995. Before moving to Tulare, Donald had been a Police Officer for the City of San Francisco. He was on the police force there for 3 years. His Lieutenant and his Sargeants considered Donald to be one of their best officers. Donald enlisted in the Marine Reserves while still in high school and fought with the best of them during the Korean Conflict. His Military Occupational Specialty was Amphibian Tractor Crewman. Donald was Honorably Discharged as a Corporal from the United States Marine Corps on February 27, 1953. He also received his high school diploma while he was a Marine. Donald was a wonderful man and a hard working one at that. For many years he held two jobs in order to provide for his family. On weekends Donald liked having barbecues with his family. Big steaks and garlic bread were always on the menu. He loved his family very much, and would give three kisses to each one. Donald was preceded in death by his parents William Craig, Claudine Shahan, his first wife Bonnie, and his sister Joanne Egigian, his son-in-law Lo Xiong. Donald is survived by his loving wife Arlene, daughters Dawn Hale (John), Kathy Gong (Geary), and Rhond Xiong, sons Larry Craig (Janice), Michael Craig (David), Donald Craig Jr., and Daniel Craig.
