John Frances Detomaso 1934 - 2/1/2014 Age 79 Yrs, 5 Mos. John Detomaso was born and raised in Visalia, CA. He graduated from Visalia Union High School and attended College of the Sequoias and the University of San Francisco pursing medical studies. He enlisted in the Army and served as a Medical Corpsman. John worked as a Pharmaceutical Technician in pharmacies in San Francisco and Visalia, including College Pharmacy and Kaweah Delta Hospital Pharmacy. He created the first Visalia Delivery Service and owned both the Oval Variety Store and AAAA Liquor in Visalia. He worked as a realtor for Morro Bay Realty for 21 years and was currently employed for Jackie Cooper Realty in Los Osos. John was past President of the Visalia Optimists. He served on the governing board for George McCann Memorial School in Visalia and was District Deputy for the Knights of Columbus. In San Luis Obispo, John was President of the Italian Catholic Federation and a member of Cancer Connections. He was a devoted, supportive member of St. Joseph's Church in Cayucos. John married the former Sallee Snell in Visalia in 1959. He was the proud father of Deborah ( Garcia ),and NinaMarie ( Engel ). His grandchildren include Rikki Garcia of Chico, CA., Nikolaus Garcia of Visalia and Matthew and Christopher Engel of Raleigh, North Carolina. He is preceded in death by his parents John and Josephine Detomaso, sister Elizabeth Detomaso and son Christopher Detomaso. Rosary will be recited at St. Joseph's Church in Cayucos on Monday, February 10, 2014 at 10:30 am. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 am. Graveside services will be held at the Cayucos Cemetery. The family requests donations to the Hearst Cancer Center, French Hospital, SLO in lieu of flowers.
