Larry Davis Long time Visalia resident and real estate appraiser Larry Davis lost his battle with cancer on November 28, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. Larry will be fondly remembered by his many friends, business associates and family for his love of people, his passion for fishing, his love of bowling and cheering on his beloved San Francisco 49ers. Larry was born the first of six children on April 25, 1942 in a farm house in Marietta, Oklahoma. At age 10 he and his family moved to Kerman, CA. While there they lived in a farm labor camp where he got his first taste of picking cotton as a young boy. In 1954 his family settled in Riverdale, CA where he spent his teenage years. He and his family attended the Riverdale Church of Christ. After graduating from Riverdale High School in 1960, Larry attended Coalinga Junior College where he continued to enjoy playing football. He was drafted into the Army in 1966 and served most of his 2 year tour in Panama training troops during the Vietnam War. On February 14, 1970 Larry married Jane Walters. He and Jane had four children together. Larry began his career as a Real Estate Appraiser in 1968 working for the Kings County Assessor's Office. He also worked as a property appraiser for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Chicago, IL and the National Park Service in San Francisco, CA before settling back in Visalia, CA in 1978 where he established his own real estate appraisal firm. On June 10, 2000 Larry married Patricia Leist with whom he enjoyed a loving relationship for the past 13 years. Larry will be remembered as a good friend, an honest and hardworking business man and a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was preceded in death by his mother Mary Helen Davis, father George Davis and brothers Ricky Davis and Ronnie Davis. Larry is survived by his wife Patricia Davis of Visalia, CA; son Steve Davis and wife Tammy of Visalia, CA; daughter Krysti League and husband Josh of Susanville, CA; son Greg Davis and wife Josette of Visalia, CA; daughter Mary Davis of Visalia, CA; stepson Art Davis of Tulare, CA; stepdaughter Kathy Davis of Riverdale, CA; sisters: Patricia Morgan of Riverdale, CA; Joyce Short of Bakersfield, CA and Karen LoganBronner of Eugene, OR. Services will be held graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery located at 19811 Cedar Ave., Laton, CA on Wednesday, December 4th at 1 PM. Arrangements by Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia.
