Mary L. Compo Mary Louise Compo passed away at the age of 85, on August 21, 2013. Mary was the daughter of the late Victor and Ruby De La Cruz. Mary was born in Bakersfield, CA and moved to Visalia when very young. She attended Carrie Barnett elementary school and graduated from Visalia High School. She lived in Visalia most of her life except when she attended Santa Cruz College. While there she met and married the late Philip Compo. Mary gave birth to 5 children, but was called "mom" by many. Mary worked for the Tulare County District Attorney's Office; the Public Defender's office prior to working at the "Steno Shop". In 1980 she went to work for Sorenson, Keller Water Engineering which is now Dennis R Keller, James H Wegley Consulting Engineers. She worked for them for 33 years before retiring. Mary was very active in the Women of the Moose where she held many offices including the highest degrees of Star Recorder. She was also a long time member of Women's Trade Club of Tulare County and supported several charities. She is survived by her daughters. Linda (Robert) Blazich; Diana Compo (Cheri); Christine (Tony) Barker; Phyl Compo (Bruce) and Shari Compo; a sister, Helen Walls of Fresno, and a brother Mike De La Cruz of Merced. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Philip, a brother Reuben De La Cruz and a great grandson. The family would like to add a special blessing to Shelley Reese for her exceptional care and love for her grandmother. Visiting with family will be Wednesday, August 28th 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Salser & Dillard Funeral Chapel. Prior to the 7pm rosary the Women of the Moose will conduct a special ceremony at 6:30pm. Funeral services are Thursday, August 29th 10am at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Burial will be following the service at Visalia District Cemetery.
