Merianne Concepcion Tatayon Ortiz Merianne Concepcion Tatayon Ortiz, 37, of Visalia, peacefully passed away on April 1, 2013 of brain cancer. She was diagnosed in 2003 and fought her disease courageously for 10 years. Merianne was born in Reedley, CA on February 5, 1976. She graduated from Orosi High School in 1994 and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies from Dominican College of San Rafael, CA where she graduated with honors. She continued on to receive a Masters of Arts Degree in Education from Fresno Pacific University. Merianne was married to Ruben Ortiz, Jr. in December 2001. They were married for 12 years. They welcomed a daughter, Magdalena Marie, on November 2008. Merianne was an elementary school teacher for Visalia Unified School District for 13 years. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, reading, and going to the movies. Merianne is survived by her husband, Ruben Ortiz, Jr and her daughter, Magdalena Marie of Visalia; her mother, Myrline Tatayon of Orosi; her brother, Marc Tatayon of 29 Palms; and her sister, Michelle Ramos of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Merianne is preceded in death by her father, Macario Tatayon, Jr. Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. and the rosary at 6:00 p.m. on April 4, 2013 at St. Isidore's Catholic Church in Orange Cove, CA. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 5, 2013 also at St. Isidore's Catholic Church. She will be missed dearly by all her family and friends.
