Roy Cornell Roy Cornell went home on Thursday, August 7, 2013 surrounded by family. He was born in Taft, California on November 5, 1933 to Fred and Retta Cornell. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother. Roy retired from Southern California Gas Co. July 1, 1994 after 42 years of employment. He was an Account Executive and enjoyed many friendships with both his customers and fellow employees. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a pipeline supervisor while stationed in Korea. Roy enjoyed traveling and was blessed to be able to visit almost every state as well as several other countries. He also enjoyed camping at the coast and touring in his motor home. The Hawaiian Islands were a favorite destination as the island of Oahu was where he and Mary, his wife of 30 years, were married. Roy is survived by his wife Mary; his four children: David Cornell of Visalia; Lynda (Carl) Elrod of Roseville; Kim (Ty) Korenwinder of Tulare; Brian (Callie) Elwood of Sykesville, Maryland; six grandchildren: Austin and Kaylee Elrod, Mallory and Dax Korenwinder, and Wyatt and Delaney Elwood. He is also survived by one sister, Hazel Smith of Georgia, and many extended family members. Visitation will be 12-8 pm, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be at 9:30 am, Thursday, August 14, 2014 also at Peers Lorentzen Funeral Chapel with burial following at North Tulare Cemetery.
