Trenton W. Barber Obituary
Trenton W. Barber 1925 - 2013 Trenton William Barber, 87, passed away Saturday, May 25, 2013, from complications of Parkinson's disease. Born in Oklahoma on Dec. 14, 1925, Trent and his family worked as farmers until the events of the Dust Bowl blew them to California Central Valley. At the age of 17, after graduation from high school, Trent enlisted in the Navy during World War II. He served in the Navy Reserve for over four decades, retiring as chief petty officer. Trent's civilian aviation career took him around the USA, Europe and beyond until he landed in Texas in 1969. Always part of his "crew," were his wife of 52 years, Carleen, and their two daughters. Trent retired from American Airlines in 1993. Trent lived and breathed all things aviation. He found imaginative ways to learn to fly, to earn flying time and to keep his hands on planes. He scanned the skies, flew, studied, repaired, recovered, bought, sold, built, took photos, taught, and dreamed airplanes. He loved sharing entertaining tales with aviation friends, old and new. Trent volunteered for numerous aviation museums and organizations and mentored younger generations on airplanes and flight. He also volunteered as a Big Brother, for the polls at elections, on behalf of workers' rights and helped family and friends whenever needed. The family would like to thank everyone who helped Trent in his last year, especially Community Hospice of Texas. Trent was preceded in death by parents, JD and Maggie Barber; brother, Fern Barber; sister, Treva Leigh; and first wife, Carleen Barber. Survivors: Trent was the loving father of Lynnette Lloyd and Vicki Barber, the grandfather of Capra Jensen, and since 2006, husband of Margaret Barber. Other survivors are: brother, Jim Barber; sister-in-law, Thelma Barber; son-in-law, Ron Lloyd; stepchildren, Robert Callahan and Susan Bell; stepgrandchildren, Kathryn Hubbard, Sean Callahan, Jack Bell and James Bell; and many more family members and friends. Memorial Service will be held at 1pm Friday, June 28, 2013 at Tinkler Funeral Chapel, 475 N. Broadway in Fresno. Graveside service will follow at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S. Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA. In lieu of flowers, a local aviation museum or a Parkinson's disease organization.
