James Robert "Bob" Varano II of Hewitt, passed away Monday, March 4, 2013. Services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Wilkirson-Hatch-Bailey Chapel. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The City of Waco Firefighters Honor Guard will be present for the services.
Bob was born April 4, 1961, in Takoma Park, Md., to Jim and Lois Varano, and attended high school in Wilmington, N.C. After high school, Bob served four years for the U.S. Air Force. After leaving the Air Force, Bob relocated to Waco and joined the Waco Fire Department, serving for 22 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his maternal grandfather, Terrell Watson Sr.
He is survived by his wife, Nicole Shepherd Varano of Hewitt; daughter, Marjolyn Varano; step-daughter, Kassidi Woodlock; two sisters, Connie Houston and Bonnie Hitschel; his grandmother, Mae Watson; and other family.
Pallbearers will be Mike Nichols Sr., David Sauer, Mike Sauer, Shane Spann, Jesse Sumpter and Brian Westerfield.
