Joel Olin Leftwich Jr., 89, died peacefully in Austin on Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2012. Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in Greenwood Funeral Home Chapel in Ft. Worth. Interment will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Rosemound Cemetery, Waco.

Mr. Leftwich was born in 1923 in Waco, to Joel Olin Leftwich Sr. and Grace Sewell Leftwich. Graduating from Waco High School, he went on to Texas A&M University where he received a degree in industrial engineering. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946, married in 1947 and moved to Fort Worth, where he raised his family and worked for General Dynamics for 32 years.

He will be lovingly remembered for his quiet demeanor and quick wit, and will be missed by all.

Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Vivion; daughters and families, Linda Jenkins and husband, David, Lexanne Van Osdol and husband, Scott, all of Austin, and Gail Leftwich and husband, Joe Paul, of Fayetteville, Ark.; grandchildren, Kate Spears and husband, Bryce, Luke Jenkins and Joel Paul. In addition, he is survived by a great-granddaughter, Kaelani Spears.
