Donald Hutchings Obituary
Our beloved Donald Dimick Hutchings (Hutch) died peacefully surrounded by his children, with the communion of saints at 1:45 pm Monday May 5, 2014. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years, Harriet and his twin brother Philip. He is survived by his children Peter, William (Rose), Teyani (Johann), and Philip (Jacquelyn) and grandchildren: Erin, Kate and Iris. They are comforted by God's holy presence with the promise of eternal life in Christ. Hutch was born in Rochester NY. He was an officer in the Marines, served in WWII as a Corsair pilot, for the Navy. Following his military service, he obtained his Doctorate in Medicine from the University of Rochester, and practiced in Upstate New York and New England. He re-enlisted in the Navy later in his career to once again serve his country. He was a brilliant doctor, and a life long learner. In addition, Hutch was a teacher into his 90th year, instrument rated flight instructor, founded the local chapter of Angel Flight, co-founded the Southern FL chapter of Retired Physicians Association. He was an Eagle Scout and remained active in scouting his entire life. He co-founded the first Pain Clinic at the University of WA. Those whose lives he touched with his healing hands will always hold dear the impact he made upon their life. A memorial service will be held in June at St Paul's Episcopal Church at 3901 Davis Blvd, Naples FL. We ask that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made in Donalds name to either St. Paul's Episcopal Church (stpaulsnaples.org) 239-643-0197 or AVOW Hospice (www.avowhospice.org) 239-261-4404. Arrangements under the direction of Hodges-Josberger Funeral Home, Marco Island, FL.
