Joanne DeProfio Obituary
Joanne DeProfio of Waltham, died suddenly, Tuesday afternoon, October 15, 2013 at the Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 50. Born and raised in Newton to the late Anthony and Pauline (Greenwood) DeProfio. She was a 1981 graduate of Newton North High School. After high school she moved to Waltham where she has been a resident ever since. Joanne worked as a dental hygienist earlier in her life before finding her true calling as a pre-school teacher. She received her degree in early education from Mass Bay College and has worked at Creative Start in both Watertown and Newton for the past 16 years. She was affectionately know to her students and her daughter's friends as Mama. In her spare time she enjoyed pitching in softball, collecting knick knacks, especially dolphins and turtles, and most of all she enjoyed her role as mother to her precious daughters, Mary Joanne Kimball of Waltham and Stephanie Ann Kimball of Waltham. Besides her daughters she is survived by her devoted fiance Greg Miller of Waltham, her sisters Patricia Arsenault and her husband Theodore of Newton, Cathy Mahoney and her husband David of Charlton, Christina Mazzola and her husband Chris of Waltham, and Paula Ober and her husband Bob of Marlborough, and her brothers Dan McGonigle and his wife Rose of Waltham, John McGonigle and his wife Val of Waltham, Joe DeProfio and his wife Chris of Windsor, Maine, and Anthony DeProfio and his wife Donna of Hudson. She was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend funeral services from the Brasco & Sons Memorial, 773 Moody St., WALTHAM, Monday, October 21, at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Joanne's life at Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St. at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday from 2-6 p.m. Parking attendants will be on duty.
