Alfred Davis Tate, age 79, of Aldie, VA passed away April 21, 2013 from heart failure following gastrointestinal surgery. He was born in February 1934 in Washington, DC, a son of the late Alfred William and Genevieve Lee Tate. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Randolph Perry Tate.
Fred graduated from Aldie High School in the class of 1952. During the Korean War he served his country in the United States Navy from 1952 - 1956. After several years serving as a firefighter for Arlington County (VA), Fred graduated as one of the first professional paramedics ever assigned in Arlington County. After 21 years as a firefighter/paramedic Fred retired in 1984. For nine years he drove student activity buses for Loudoun County Public Schools. He attended Leesburg Community Church.
Fred is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Jennieve Owens Tate. He was the loving father of Susan Filler, Bev Tate and Pattie Kutch; and adoring grandfather of Erin Filler, Courage and Justice Kutch. Fred is also survived by his sisters, Frances Shupp of East Berlin, PA, Martha Freer of Leesburg, FL and Ann Pierce of Rupert, ID; a host of nieces and nephews. Fred will also be missed by his Jack Russell terrier, Cricket.
