ANNA W. RANDOLPH

On January 29, 2013, Anna W. Randolph transitioned from her earthly existence to her heavenly home. She was surrounded by family and friends and she passed peacefully at home after a valiant struggle with breast cancer. At 91, Anna was the indisputable matriarch of her family. She spent her life giving to others and left an indelible impression on each life she touched. Her kindness, integrity, generosity, strength and demonstrative nature will be an immense loss but serve as a role model to those she leaves behind. She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years, Horace D. Randolph. She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Randolph Leonard and Laura Randolph Lancaster; her two sisters, Margaret W. Hansley and Cherry W. O'Dell; her brother, Ralph Wrenn; her brother-in-law, LeRoy A. Hansley; her son-in-law, Robert A. Leonard; her nieces, Leslie Dawn O'Dell and Gina Nicole Odim; her nephew, ElRoy A. Hansley and a host of other relatives and friends. Though we will miss her physical presence in our daily lives, we are comforted in knowing that we will continue to carry her spirit in our hearts and minds. Relatives and friends will be received at Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home, 7557 Wisconsin Ave, Bethesda, Maryland on Thursday, February 7, 2013 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Northeastern Presbyterian Church, 2112 Varnum St., N.E., Washington, D.C. on Friday, February 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment at Fort Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in the name of Anna W. Randolph to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, www.bcrfcure.org.
