KAYE BARBARA JANE KAYE "BJ" Of Alexandria VA passed away peacefully in her home on December 23, 2012. She was born Barbara Jane Garrett in South Hampton, NY on November 8, 1932 and graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy for Girls in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Penn State University. She was predeceased by her mother, Loretta V O'Neil Garrett; father, Thomas B. Garrett; son, Thomas E Klingensmith; and son, Richard A Klingensmith. BJ is survived by her sister Mary L O'Connor; daughters, Kathryn Renwick, Judy Comiskey and Jane Meskill and daughter-in-law, Linda Klingensmith; 10 grandchildren, eight great- grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. BJ retired from AARP in 2001 and was owner of Kaye Associates. She volunteered her time for The League of Woman Voters, American Red Cross, and Virginia Election Board. She served proudly as a member of Ronald Regan's Inauguration Security Staff for the 1981 Presidential Inauguration. BJ loved gardening, playing games on her computer, reading, NY Times cross word puzzles, attending concerts, ballets, and plays, the sand, the sun, the sea , and dancing. She was always excited to be included in family events. A Memorial Service will be held at Cunningham Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alexandria, VA on Saturday, January 5, 2013 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Celebration of Life to follow at Chadwick's, 203 Strand St., Old Town, Alexandria, VA from 3 to 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Red Cross and Odyssey Hospice.In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the American Red Cross and Odyssey Hospice.
