CALVIN MONTGOMERY DAVIS, SR.  

Calvin Montgomery Davis, Sr., 92, of Hagerstown, MD, and a formerly at Sommerford Place, passed away, Saturday, August 31, 2013, at the Meritus Medical Center.
 
Born Monday, January 17, 1921 in Rockville, MD, he was the son of the late Reginald Fairfax Davis and Rosie E. (Gill) Davis. He was preceded in death by his wife Julia Marie Davis in 2011.
 
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Marines, and was awarded the purple heart. He was employed for many years with Flooring Contractors of Rockville, MD. He was a member of the Cheverly, MD American Legion, and also involved in senior activities at the senior centers at Good Luck Road in Greenbelt, MD and at P.G. Community College in Largo, MD. Calvin was an avid Redskin fan, and a person who always made you laugh.
 
He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn "Dee" Reichmeider and husband Rusty of Hagerstown, MD; sons, Calvin M. Davis Jr. and wife Helen of Silver Spring, MD, Lawrence E. Davis, Sr. and wife Patricia of Keedysville, MD, and Glenn Davis and wife Jan of Australia; grandson, Jimmy Shanahan, grandson, Lawrence Davis Jr., granddaughter, Andrea Shanahan, granddaughter, Shannon Davis, grandson, Andrew Davis, granddaughter, Shawna Ballerini, grandson, Peter Livolsi, granddaughter, Amy Murray, grandson, Richard Livolsi, eight great grandchildren, numerous distant relatives.
 
He was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.
 
Services will be held Friday, September 6, 2013, at 1 p.m., at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Road, Brentwood, MD, with the Rev. Dr. David C. Baker officiating.
 
Family will receive friends at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, MD on Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday, September 6, 2013 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at the "Little Church" at Fort Lincoln Cemetery
 
Interment will be at the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
 
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project PO BOX 758517 Topeka, KS 66675.
