Passed away on March 26, 2014 in Leesburg, VA following a battle with fronto-temporal degeneration (FTD). Carillon was raised in Upland, IN, graduated from Purdue University, and spent her adult years living in India, England, Sri Lanka, Venezuela, and Washington, DC as the wife of a US Foreign Service Officer. Carillon was a beloved teacher of math and science at international schools overseas, students homebound with illness or injury, and adolescents in DC-area juvenile detention facilities. She enjoyed reading, corresponding with family and friends, doing handwork, and entertaining.
Carillon is survived by her husband of 55 years, James E Leader; three children, Dan Leader, Carol (Leader) Smith and Jane (Leader) Soderquist. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, two sisters, and family and friends too numerous to list but not forgotten.
A private burial was held in Upland, IN on April 4. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of Carillon's life on May 10, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Foundry United Methodist Church located at 1500 16th St NW, Washington, DC. For a full obituary, please visit:
