COLVIN L. GIBSON  

On February 14, 2014, a resident of Wheaton, MD for 51 years. He was born April 12, 1918 in Detroit, Michigan where he attended public schools. He earned Bachelor's, Master's and Ph.D. degrees in zoology at the University of Michigan. During WWII he served in the Pacific as a naval officer working on disease control.
 
He was a US Public Health Service officer in Guatemala and Memphis, TN and from 1958 until retirement in 1976 he was a grants administrator and Equal Employment Director at National Institutes of Health. He was married to the late Mary Margaret Baldwin Gibson. Their interests included travel, church work, performing arts and birding. He is survived by three children, Barbara Lee Gibson Smullen of Rochester, NY; James Gibson of Atlanta, GA; and Judith Ann Gibson Wilson of Olney, MD; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be Monday, February 24 at 11 a.m. at Warner Memorial Presbyterian Church, 10123 Connecticut Ave., Kensington MD, followed by interment at Parklawn Memorial Park, 12800 Viers Mill Rd., Rockville, MD.
