Passed away on June 7, 2013. Born and raised in Hebron NH, joined the USMC and served at Marine Headquarters in Washington DC. Settled in Arlington VA, started a family and business. Dean was a proud WW2 veteran of the USMC and a longtime resident and business owner in Arlington and Fairfax. Dean purchased Univrsal Printers, his first business in 1949. Dean operated Printing Incorporated of Virginia from 1969 until 2000. Dean was an active member of the community in Arlington County serving as Chapter Chairman of the Arlington County American Red Cross, Board of Directors of Arlington County Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors of Visiting Nurses Association, Board of Directors of YMCA, President of Arlington County Rotary International, Assistant Area Governor of Toastmasters International, Charter Member of the Virginia State Printers Association, President of International Town and Country Club, Deacon of Trinity Presbyterian Church. Dean was honored as "Outstanding Citizen" by VFW Post 3150 in 1965.
Husband of the late Phyllis Holmquist Braley; brother of Norton Braley; brother-in-law of Flora Braley; father of Dean Waite Braley Jr., J Edward Braley, and Judith Ann McAuley; grandfather of Scott, Chris, Ashley, Noah, Jonah, James, Kevin, Alex, Michael; great-grandfather to Taylor, Katelyn, William, Bryce, Ayden, Siena, Jaley, Carter, Kiera and Braley; uncle to nieces and nephews.
Memorial held 12 noon, Monday January 13, 2014 at Everly Wheatley Funeral Home, 1500 Braddock Rd., Alexandria VA, interment will follow at Arlington National Cemetery 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Arlington Chapter American Red Cross or Wounded Warriors Project.
